A few days after Sydney, we arrived in Melbourne, and only a few minutes in I was already certain that this city was much more my cup of tea. Melbourne is bursting with color and creativity and when walking through the streets of downtown, you get the feeling that this city has an unwritten policy that no two buildings are allowed to look even slightly similar. Every single bigger building or scyscraper has some kind of special and unique decoration.
My dad and I took a free walking tour through the city center. Our guide told us about the history of Melbourne and how the city got so rich, while she showed us the hidden alleys which are dedicated purely to stunningly beautiful street art. We also learned that every street performer has to obtain a license to play in the city, so every single musician or other artist on the street is a professional, which results in the busiest streets permanently being filled with beautiful music of all kinds.
In the evening we enjoyed the view on the city from one of the most famous rooftop bars, called Naked for Satan and afterwards dropped into the Queen Victoria Night Market. Sadly, we only had one full day in Melbourne because we had a lot of stops ahead of us.
