Hiking in Colorado

After the summer school in Utah, I decided to visit my aunt and her family, who live in Colorado. Together we went for a few day trips, climbing all the way to the top of Grays Peak, one of Colorado’s 14ers, gazing into the night sky at Berthoud pass summit, and chasing the perfect nature panorama in Rocky Mountains NP.

The hike atop Grays Peak was incredibly exhausting, although at first we wanted to take the nearest other 14er, Torreys Peak, as well, but after already almost running out of water on the way up the first peak, we decided not to risk it. I got a few awesome shots of mountain goats though.

A few days later, I went to the Garden of the Gods National Park. There I even had time to do some time-lapses.

The night after, I went stargazing and tried to take some long exposure shots. These were the best results:

On the last field trip we went to the Rocky Mountains NP. I remember annoying the whole family by standing on a fallen tree in the middle of a lake for well over 15 minutes, just trying to get the perfect shot of the dragonfly. But the results were worth it.
